The game in cab format can be either downloaded to your phone or copied over via Windows with file transfer options. This WVGA game needs you have MS .NET Compact Framework 3.5 installed on your Windows mobile 6.1 or 6.5 device. This WVGA Games that was previously known as “Dream Catcher” but for unknown reason was renamed to Totem Star. In this game you lead the destiny of your fellow tribesmen through the stars or so say the creators of this game. Totem Star is set in the Native American desert sunset. The goal of the game is to draw patterns around stars of similar shape or color. You can also make combination in as the authors say – ‘an infinite variety of patterns’ which in reality will is quite finite. But there are plenty combinations possible and a lot to be found out in the game play.

Totem Star Lite does not have a steep learning curve at all, but you will soon discover that the game is much deeper as it seems to be from the start. The goal of the game is to make a lot of patterns from the stars that appear in the game area. The combinations can be found in the bottom right corner of the screen. Just below a totem pole that you have to fill up to have your fellow tribesmen create more structures, which results into a new goal and a higher score.

When you need to make certain combinations you can force the color star to appear in the game area by making a certain combination to force a certain color to spawn. The combinations you can make in the game can be found on Touch Dimensions site which you can locate with any search engine.

The game is fun, and keeps you entertained for a long time. The background tunes are is very nice and the entire atmosphere of the game is just perfect. These days finger friendly applications and games are really hot. But because of how the game is made it’s often better to use the stylus. This is because you have to draw patterns between sometimes close by stars and having your finger in the way does more harm then good. The game plays fine with your finger as long as you are not that concerned about getting the best highscore that day. In the options menu of the game you can see your current highscore and switch between sounds/music disabled or enabled. Other than that it’s just a great little WVGA game that works on all devices it was tested on, QVGA, VGA, WVGA and more. Make sure you try out this great and best of all – free game.

The iPhone 3G offers a tangible improvement over its ground breaking predecessor. Its 3G wireless network arrives with much justified fanfare, enabling faster connection speeds and improved call quality. The appearance is only slightly different, as Apple understands there’s no need to rework the classic minimal design. There are also dozens of third party applications available, which keeps the new iPhone on the cutting edge of modern, functional, and fun.

Though Apple still has yet to address a few shortcomings, the iPhone 3G continues to affirm the standard against which all other mobile phones shall be judged.

Looking past all the bells and whistles for a moment leaves us with a phone with notably improved call reception and lower background noise. This is a welcomed improvement, as the orignal iPhone caught a fair amount of deserved flack for its sometimes frustrating call reception. At that time, the iPhone was so distractingly pretty and, with the help of a groundbreaking interface and a wide variety of aps, no one seemed to care too much about call reception that needed to be improved. So before it became a forefront issue, Apple dealt with it proactively by upgrading to what has become known as the Third Generation Network – 3G – that almost lives up to its promise of better reception. As mentioned, the reception on the iPhone 3G was improved overall, but there were still intermittent problems with faltering call signals. Push comes to shove, the Blackberry Storm with Verizon service might edge out iPhone/AT&T in the department of call signal integrity.

The price also made me flinch a little. The iPhone is a “subsidized” phone, which means you what you pay for it depends on the current deal you have with your current carrier. Steve Jobs initially introduced the 3G with the price costing ranging from 199 for the 8GB version, to 299 for the 16GB model. This turned out to be not exactly true. It’s mostly accurate that most people – to make a very long story short – will in fact qualify for the aforementioned lower price. However if you do not “qualify” for such a price you will pay $399 or $499 for the respective models. The terms of the price qualification lie with AT&T, and are sufficiently complicated as to go beyond the bounds of this review to explain. For reference, please refer to AT&T’s website.

There are also gaps in the 3G coverage; in a sense you could say that 3G is still in its “beta” version at the time of this writing. Although this matter will clearly become resolved soon as hardware phone networks are updated. During a broadband test, video games played much better on the 3G compared to the older model.

The 3G also now features a true GPS instead of the approximate position interpolation of the original iPhone. As long as there’s a network, this one puts you exactly where you are. The new iPhone also features compatibility with Microsoft Exchange server messaging and email services.

The iPhone also supports Wi-Fi based email synching and, though the email services are not quite what the Blackberry’s are, the new iPhone is catching up quickly as a serious business phone. One of the most glaring shortfalls of the iPhone 3G is its continued inability to text images without 3rd party aps and modfied hacks. Why an iPhone can’t do what a 1st generation LG phone can do is beyond me. The battery runs fine but doesn’t last quite as long as the previous generation iPhone and is not changeable by the user.

The display is the same size as its predecessor (480 X 320) and features a slightly higher resolution of 163 dots per inch as opposed to 160. The images are “iPhone sharp” as ever with an identical icon display, plus the edition of a Contacts icon that opens your phone book, and the App Store icon opens the iTunes App Store. The display’s glass surface, accelerometer feature, touch interface, and secondary menus remain unchanged.

All in all, the problems with the new iPhone amount to only blemishes on what remains the gold standard in mobile phone design today. If Apple/AT&T can simplify the iPhone’s pricing structure and continue to upgrade its 3G coverage, the iPhone will continue to remain the most popular mobile phone offered today.

Tower Defense for Windows Mobile a review

When you start the game, over time enemies start coming from one side of the playing field to the other where they try to reach your home base. When you are unable to stop the enemies from entering your base and doing their damage you lose health. You have to prevent this because when your home base is destroyed you have lost the game. As said you have to place towers in the way or on the way of the enemies moving to your home base to stop them.

In the case of this new Windows Mobile Tower Defense game from Color Stone Ltd you have a total of 6 different towers that you can plant down to defend your base. The towers can do different damage to the incoming enemies and there for you need a proper mix. Though it’s not completely clear what the different towers do, so you have to observe against what enemies they work best. It’s a bit of a shame because it can be quite tedious to find the right mix.

As you kill enemies with your mix of towers you gain more money, with your new earned funds you can opt for upgrading your towers or buying new ones. Towers can be upgraded twice and as you do they become bigger and more bad ass, think of bigger guns, more guns, bigger flame thrower and such things.

Tower Defense for Windows Mobile has two levels that you can play, they both bring something else to the table strategically wise. The game has 3 difficulties easy, normal and hard, the suggested difficulty is easy unless you are a tower defense veteran. In the options menu you can select music/sound effects and there is a possibility to view your high score. There is not a real option to save option for this Windows Mobile game but you can quit and resume your game later on. But if you decide to start a new game in the meanwhile there is no way to resume a game you started before that.

Tower Defense from Color Stone Ltd is one of the most fun WVGA compatible Windows Mobile games I have ever played. Tower defense fanatic or not, you should really consider getting this game for your Windows Mobile phone, it is one of the better games that have ever graced the Windows Mobile game platform. There are little things that aren’t perfect about this game, like the missing save option and the unclear tower functions. But these little things do not take away from the fun of the game and it gets a 8.5 out of 10 easy.
