Are Smart phones real or science fiction?
We are well on our way to a science fiction future where everyone has that one device that enables all their business communications, family and entertainment activities. Smart phones like the Apple iPhone and Motorola DROID A855 have more power than even the most capable computers of just 10 years ago. The only thing stopping the trend from continuing is the small screen size needed by such a portable, pocketable device. But technologies are on the way that will cut that wire, just as your internet connection and mouse and keyboard connection has been made wireless. With wireless video streaming over the airwaves to your HDTV display your phone can link to your Netflix account so you can watch the next item in your instant queue in your living room, then stop and continue whenever you have some time on your hands. Or hold it in your hands and start your favorite game up. Use the phone like a Nintendo Wii controller or use the tactile touchscreen as a more traditional game controller. Your music collection can be streamed wirelessly to earphones, or to Sony SRSBT100 Bluetooth Stereo Speakers in your home.
For decades technology experts have reassured that “nothing will ever replace a full size PC” but it’s beginning to look like those words will be class with Bill Gates “640k should be enough for anybody” and “There is a worldwide market for 5 computers” as wrong technology predictions. With wireless video the smart phone is not only the phone of the future but also the desktop computer, mp3 player, laptop, radio, VCR, game console, alarm clock, GPS navigation system, internet browser, PDA, even your wallet!
