Wouldn’t you love to have 100% free stuff sent to you that has lots of value that you could put to good use? Knowing how to get such products that could be expensive for very little out-of-pocket expense is valuable information to many people. Free new release DVD movies, laptops, digital cameras, game consoles, and other gadgets are all products that everyone can get virtually for free! The trick, however, is knowing where to look for these products and how to go about getting them.

One of the places that many people don’t yet know about in order to get free stuff sent to you is the online freebie world. In the freebie world there is no product that is too large that cannot be gotten for dirt cheap or free altogether! Some of the products that are routinely offered on freebie sites include game consoles like the Nintendo Wii, free movie packs, and other products that were mentioned earlier.

Free Stuff Sent To You From Freebie Networks

The first and foremost step that must be taken in order to get products for free and other gadgets for free is to sign up and register with one of the many freebie sites out there. There are many examples of these sites that can be found online and many of them offer their users the chance to earn free movie bundles, newly introduced and unlocked cell phones, game consoles like the Nintendo Wii or the Sony Playstation 3, as well as other products like portable DVD players, camcorders, and GPS units.

While signing up with a freebie network you will be asked to select your free gift. Obtaining your free gift from one of these freebie sites depends on how many referrals or requirements you need to achieve in order to receive your gift! For example, some gifts may require only one referral while others require five, fifteen, or even twenty!

How to Successfully Get Referrals on Freebie Networks

There are many possible places to actually get referrals that will ultimately lead you on the road to success with a freebie site, thus enabling you to receive the free gift you want! First and foremost, your friends, family members, and co-workers are excellent places to start when it comes to finding referrals. They can sign up easily through your referral link and complete the same simple requirements that you did to fulfill your own requirement. A second place that one can look, however, is one of the many sites that can be found online devoted to the freebie world and obtaining referrals! For example, ReferralSwapper can be used to obtain the referral that you need in order to get your free gift. There are other examples out there too, but these types of sites are out there to help you, the freebie site member, have success with these types of sites!

After you have obtained all the referrals you need, though, the freebie site will immediately have free stuff sent to you if you’ve chosen your gift! Once you receive that free gift you are able to do what you want with it: use it, sell it, or even give it away! All in all, freebie sites are definitely worth your time and should yield plenty of success!

The world of the mobile phone is a confusing one these days, particularly for those wondering how to start a cell phone business. Few things are perhaps as confusing as GSM frequencies and GSM phones that seem to work in some parts of the world but not in others.

Multiple band cell phones and GSM frequencies can be especially confusing for anyone wondering how to start a cell phone business.

So what is the background behind the GSM network?

The GSM network was first suggested by a group of European technicians and policy makers in 1982 and it didn’t take long for consumers and phone makers to adopt the new network after it first emerged in 1991. It wasn’t long before there was growing GSM coverage in an increasing number of countries.

The GSM world grew quickly. There were more than one million subscribers spread over 70 carriers in 30 countries by the end of 1993.

Not only did the new GSM mobile network send and receive all of its information digitally, making it the first 2G mobile phone to be developed it also gave users a great deal of freedom on what they did with it. For the first time they were able to send short written messages to each other for a fraction of the price of a phone call, they could change their carrier and/or go to a different country without getting a new phone.

All they needed to do was to take one GSM SIM card out and replace it with another GSM card and they were in business.

But, as the unknown powers of the world decree, things shouldn’t be that easy and the GSM frequencies set by most of the GSM networks had already been assigned to other purposes by the powers that be.

So, in a situation very similar to TV watchers and people with surveillance systems, a phone that worked in Sussex England wouldn’t pick up anything in San Antonio in the US. Basically it wasn’t a case of one GSM frequency fits all.

As a result, many cell phone makers create cell phones that can work with more than one band with some working with as many as 4 bands.

Still this doesn’t mean there aren’t questions and people are often left asking:

What is GSM?

What are the GSM frequencies?

Why do GSM phones have more than one band?

Will different frequencies work in different areas?

How can I check if a phone will work in a particular area?

How are multiple band phones defined and where will they work?

We’re going to attempt to look at those questions in this article.

What is GSM? GSM, Global System for Mobile communications is a wireless transmission standard used for mobile phones and, recently wireless modems. GSM and CDMA differ because GSM networks use a SIM card to store all the necessary information to send and receive calls where with CDMA phones everything is kept on the phones.

If you are looking at how to start a cell phone business and you don’t have thousands in working capital GSM mobile phones will probably be a better option than CDMA as they won’t be attached to a particular carrier and don’t require you to be licensed to a particular provider to sell unlocked cell phones.

Another reason to select GSM over CDMA is that it will open up the potential customer base for each phone. As unlocked gsm phones can be used with any GSM networks. To date there is no such thing as an unlocked CDMA phone. When it comes to cell phone plans most providers love CDMA phones because it locks their consumers to them.

Why do GSM phones have more than one band? GSM Phones come with more than one band so that they will work in more than one country as there is more than one GSM frequency and they are not universally transmitted.

As a result, wholesale cellphone manufacturers make GSM and GPRS phones with multiple cell phone bands so that they can work in multiple countries. Most cell phones work on two, three or even four bands. Quad band phones are the most flexible as they can be used all over the world and are often called international phones as a result.

How are multiple band phones defined and where will they work? Multiple band phones are usually defined by how many GSM frequencies they can operate on and usually come in four different categories, dual band, tri band and quad band. If thinking about how to start a cell phone business it is important to remember the different type of bands as it could mean the difference between your customer getting a high performance phone that they’re happy with and can and them getting a shiny and costly paperweight.

Dual band phone works with two GSM frequencies and, depending on where the phone is made will probably work for the frequencies 900MHz and 1800MHz. These phones are usually less expensive than other types of cell phone and it can be a good way to get a cheap cell phone that will still send SMS MMS and act as a WAP cell phone.

The tri band phone runs on three frequencies and can be used in most countries. This unlocked GSM cell phone is a cheaper option than the quad band phone but safer than a dual band phone.

Quad band phones, or international phones as they are sometimes called, use four bands and can be used anywhere in the world. If you are looking to start a mobile phone business and you wonder what is an unlocked phone guaranteed to sell well and give you the least trouble with customers it will probably be this type of cellphone.

What Are The GSM Frequencies? Almost all of the world works on the frequencies 850Mhz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900Mhz and in some rare circumstances 400MHz although there are some other frequencies in other locations.

Thankfully too areas where each frequencies work is fairly easy to define in the very general sense . So when you’re looking for what areas a cellular phone will work in you should be able to follow a rough guide.

So which areas use GSM 900 and 1800 MHZ signals and which areas use the GSM 850Mhz and 1900MHz frequencies can usually be broken into two groups.

If you are traveling in with your cell phone in Oceania, Africa, Europe, Asia , the Middle East, Brazil and the Baltic region and looking for roaming networks then mobile network coverage will be either 900MHz, 1800MHz or 900MHz and 1800MHz.

If you are looking for a GSM world phone that will work in the US or South America then you’re better sticking with a wireless cell phone that’ll work on the 850Mhz and 1900MHz bands.

Will different frequencies work in different areas? With the majority of the GSM world being broken into two main groups and tell the person who wants to buy unlocked cell phones from you which parts of the world it will probably work in.

So it looks like cell phone bands and GSM frequencies aren’t that scary after. It’s just a case of knowing where to look and ensuring you’ve got the right phone for the right location.

So your job seems to be going nowhere and this current recession has you worried. What are your options?

You could look for yet another position at yet another firm, with the hope that it will be marginally better than the one you have now and that you will actually move up the corporate ladder instead of sideways. Or you could start to build your own business on the side and have something to go to when you are ready.

Becoming self-employed has been the dream of many people for a very long time. After all, when there’s millions willing to join the rat race there must be an equally large group who want to leave it behind.

So how do you do that and what field do you choose? Which money making venture you chose depends on what you think you will do well at. There are almost as many different ways of starting your own business as there are people in the world.

Selling things online or through bricks and mortar businesses has often been the way many people choose to make money for themselves. One good product line to select could be the cell phone. In short, start a mobile phone business.

Why start a mobile phone business?

While the world is in recession right now and consumers aren’t buying as much as they used to consumer electronics have managed to buck this trend… handset sales will grow by 3% in the US and Europe next year with developing markets like South America, Asia and Africa achieving much stronger growth in wireless cell phone sales.

People still want to keep in touch with each other when times are tough and if you start a mobile phone business that is online or through eBay then phones are fairly easy to ship to different countries due to their small size and light weight and cellular phones will not incur the huge duties that some other, higher profile items attract.

How can I sell mobile phones?

You can sell cellular phones any number of ways. By opening up your very own bricks and mortar cell phone store, stocking GSM phones, CDMA phones and cell phone accessories or utilize the classified section in newspapers and magazine.

There are also a number of ways online to start a mobile phone business, including opening your own online cell phone shop, marketing cellular phones through online classified sites like Craigslist.org or through online auction sites like eBay and Amazon.

How do I know which cell phones I should sell?

Selecting the unlocked cell phone to stock on your online store when you start a mobile phone business is a difficult job as there is such a wide range of unlocked mobiles available these days.

While I will talk about the different shapes and types of unlocked phone, their various benefits and problems and the types of people who buys each type of mobile in another article it very much depend on the types of people who use your service.

It doesn’t matter whether you choose to stock a bar phone, flip phone, clamshell phone, ladies phone, slide cellular phone, flip cell phone or PDA. And you will succeed just as well if you get a movie phone, a music phone or one that lets you watch videos on phone. There are two things to make sure of… that you get phones that will work in the markets that you are selling them to and you buy unlocked cell phones.

All cellular networks around the world work within the frequencies 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 1900MHz with some networks operating on two or more frequencies. As a result most phones available wholesale operate on two, three or four bands.

Matching the ideal phone band to the market is essential for people who want to start a mobile phone business as it will be the difference between a phone that works and a phone that doesn’t. If you have people buying unlocked phones from all over the world you are better selling quad band cell phones as these international phones will give you the coverage you need.

What is the difference between a locked and unlocked phone and why should I buy unlocked cell phones?

A locked cell phone is one that is sold by a particular carrier and cannot be changed to another server unless the carrier themselves do it. For example, if you have an iPhone or a Blackberry, you are an AT&T customer and you want to use Verizon’s service then you have to call up AT&T and ask them to switch you to Verizon. Most locked cell phones are CDMA phones.

Unlocked cellphones don’t come attached to a carrier so you can select which carrier you use. These are almost always GSM phones as the GSM SIM can be removed from unlocked GSM phones allowing another to be put in.

So why choose to sell unlocked cell phones over locked cell phones? The simple answer is when you start a mobile phone business then you’re not going to have much money and you won’t want to pay the licensing fee necessary to buy network-approved phones. And with unlocked phones you’re able to buy phones wholesale which give you more profit and more freedom to run the business the way you want.

Where can I find cell phones to sell?

Sourcing products is one of the biggest headaches of anybody involved in e-commerce and buying unlocked cell phones is no different.

If you want to find unlocked cell phones you can look in several areas, from a local wholesale company, from a wholesale importer in bulk lots on sites like eBay and overstock or through wholesale dropship companies that stock China cellphones wholesale. As cellphones and most electronics come from China these days this would probably be a logical step. Thankfully many of these wholesale dropship firms are online these days.

It doesn’t matter if you want a bluetooth phone, music phone, WAP phone or a flip cell phone you will probably have to look through the same types of sources.

How can I get phones from my supplier to my customer?

When you want to start a mobile phone business online then you need to ask yourself one question which supply chain management method will I use, traditional bulk purchasing or dropshipping?

Both methods have their pluses and minuses but as you are unlikely to have little in working capital one good option might be to choose the dropshipping means of fulfillment.

Dropshipping is where you transfer the customer’s order directly to your supplier and they fill the order and you use their payment to pay for the phone after first taking off your profit.

While this may seem like an e-commerce retailer’s dream come true there are still some problems with this and you will need to source new phones carefully, make sure you have sturdy and active communications lines with your wholesale dropship supplier of China cellphones wholesale phones and have an excellent customer services system set up to make sure you don’t get left with unhappy customers.

What should I watch out for when I buy cell phones wholesale and then sell them?

One of the most important things to be sure of when you start a mobile phone business is that you have a reliable wholesale cellphone supplier that will fill orders on time with the phones you ordered. It often takes some time to find the right China cellphones wholesale supplier so it might pay to shop around and get several samples before you decide who to give your business to.

It is especially important to get a sample of the phones and test them for yourself for this very reason.

It is also important to make sure that you get the phones with the right frequencies to the right markets.

It doesn’t matter if you think you have found the coolest movie phone on the market with the best cell phone camera you have seen and incredible multimedia message functions.

If it is a dual band phone using the frequencies 900MHz and 1800MHz and you are trying to sell it in the US then you are just going to have a whole lot of unhappy customers.

This will end up with you getting many returns and a large number of multimedia phone paperweights on your hands.

This is why tri band phones and quad band phones work best for people who start a mobile phone business online as they are true international phones and will work anywhere.

Ready to start a mobile phone business and break away from the rat race? This is just the start of your journey which may very well lead you to China cellphone wholesale suppliers and dropship wholesale companies. Just be sure to do your home work for as Chinese General once said “the enlightened ruler lays his plans well ahead; the good general cultivates his resources.”

If you’ve followed the developments in the China cellphone wholesale market lately it seems that one SIM card is not enough, and there’s a proliferation of mobile phones with at least two SIM cards.

Major wireless cell phone manufacturers like Samsung, Nokia and Motorola have been slow to catch up with Samsung only just releasing a model at the time this article was written.

So what’s going on? Are the makers of these China cellphone wholesale brands that busy that they need two SIM cards? Did it only happen to so that they could avoid getting phone calls from their partner and how can it benefit us as consumers.

We attempted to get to the bottom of this dual mobile mystery.

What is dual SIM?

Dual SIM essentially refers to a phone that can hold and utilize two SIM cards in the same GSM cellular phone. It doesn’t matter if they’re dual SIM TV phones or any other dual SIM phones as long as they take two SIM cards and read them then they are dual SIM mobile phones.

How does dual SIM work?

The answer to this question all depends on the phone. Some types of unlocked phone have two CPUs which allow them to potentially answer two phones at the same time. Essentially it means that you can receive signals for both numbers.

Not all dual SIM card phones have two CPUs and this can have two results for consumers. If the phone has call secretary software, or your carrier has an online call secretary service then if you’re on the phone and another call comes in then it’ll be shipped to voicemail. If no such software or option exists on your GSM dual mobile then the other caller will just be told that your line is busy.

So can I take two phone calls at the same time on a dual SIM phone?

Again the answer to that question depends on how many CPUs your phone has, if there is more than one then there should be no problem. But if your China cellphone wholesale phone only has the one CPU then you’re only going to be able to take or make one phone call at a time.

Why dual SIM?

The concept of dual SIM cell phones suits many people for many reasons, regardless of whether you’re interested in a phone from a major brand or a dual SIM phone from China. But the most-commonly given reasons are for coverage, economy and convenience.

When trying to get the best deal/best coverage out of your unlocked phone then sometimes the service of one carrier isn’t enough and you need to set up two phones to make sure you’re reachable at all times and you reduce the phone bill on your mobile phone. A cell phone that will handle two SIM cards should let you cut down costs while keeping two carriers on the same phone.

The other reason for two SIM cards is the ability to keep all of your personal and business contacts separate while keeping them in the same place.

Do both numbers in Dual SIM share the same memory?

Yes, Both numbers share the same telephone list and SMS library so there’s no threat of wasting hours scrolling through two different libraries to find one message.

Why do most dual SIM phones come from China?

Nobody knows quite why dual SIM phone from China are so prevalent but with the volume of electronics being manufactured in China and the frequency that OEM manufacturers are used means that China cellphone wholesale makers are more likely to create new solutions and new features than phone makers from other parts of the world. Of course it could also be that they don’t want their partners to see who else they’re calling but we’ll never know.

How does a dual SIM phone switch from one SIM card to another?

When you’re using a wireless cell phone with two SIM cards when making calls is usually done by either pressing a button or making a menu selection.

When your dual mobile is receiving calls then it’s simply a case of first come first serve and the caller who gets in contact with you first talks to you first, regardless of which SIM their details are on.

So there you go, some of the answers to dual SIM card phones that you probably wanted to know but were afraid to ask. One thing remains true, when it comes to unlocked cell phones or China cellphone wholesale manufacturers we are going to be seeing a whole lot more phones on the market with slots for two SIM cards. And that is definitely a good think in my books.

Overview

GSM: The term used for Global System for Mobile Communication. It is a worldwide accepted cellular network standard which uses a SIM card to make and receive calls and data over the network. The SIM card holds the phone number assigned by the service provider, your phonebook and other registration information. GSM standard is used by approximately 213 countries with over 3 billion people. GSM network uses four frequency range 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz.

Dual-band:

These phones will work around the world but not in United States and Canada.

Frequency Operation Mode: 900 MHz and 1800 MHz.

Countries: Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and much of South America.

Tri-band

These phones will work around the world including United States and Canada but will not work with the service provider that only supports 850 MHz frequency.

Frequency Operation Mode: 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz.

Countries: Europe, Africa, Asia, nearly all of United States, Australia and New Zealand.

Quad-band

Quad band phones will work all over the world with all GSM service providers.

Frequency Operation Mode: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz.

Countries: Europe, Africa, Asia, United States, Australia, New Zealand, South America and almost all the countries.

If you are purchasing a Cell Phone check the above frequency band and make sure that the cell phone band is supported in the country. United States support 850 MHz and 1900 MHz frequency band. Majority of carriers in US such as T-Mobile, Cingular uses 1900 MHz frequency and in some state Cingular uses 850MHz frequency band.

What is Unlocked GSM Cell Phones?

Most cell phones service provider companies such as T-Mobile, Cingular etc provide cell phones to users which are network locked. This means that, the phones can only be worked with their company’s network. For example, a locked phone from T-mobile wouldn’t work with Cingular’s service. So if you want to use your cell phone anywhere in the world with any service provider you have to purchase unlocked cell phones which are not Network Locked by any service provider and you have to just transfer your existing SIM card into your new unlocked phone and your phone is all set to make and receive calls.

If you sell unlocked cell phones, brand name cell phones or mobile phone watches online you could honestly say that the market has never looked better.

The number of phones and mobile phone companies has soared in the last 12 months. Besides big-name players, like Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola there are now many Chinese mobile phone manufacturers looking for their place in the international mobile communication market.

Wifi, Bluetooth, MP4 players, MP3 players, WAP capabilities, cameras, and docking ports for multiple SIM cards are all becoming common features on mobile phones with customers expecting more out of their phones than ever before.

Demand for branded and wholesale mobile phones is also strong with mobile phone use overtaking landline use in some parts of the world and consumers changing their phones every 15 months on average.

So how can you, as an online reseller tap into this profitable market, what is the best way to find a supplier and how do you source this new, profitable range of products?

It doesn’t matter if you’re considering stocking mobile phones through your online auction business or looking at expanding your range and taking on a different supplier. The process of sourcing mobile phones from makers of cellphones in China is exactly the same and simply finding the companies through a wholesale directory, business directory or online is just the first step.

When you find the firm that has products you think you want to resell you need to go through the steps to make sure it conducts itself professionally and won’t harm your seller reputation. Ignore the following signs at your peril:

It doesn’t have any contact details or the contact details turn out to be not working.

Their website is badly put together, has very few product photos, or stolen product photos and has little to no contact information

Many people have complained about them on dropshipping, e-commerce and wholesale forums or fraudwatch sites.

Promotional material they use looks suspiciously like materials from another wholesale dropship company

Their products are priced too high or too low

Doing market research on the wholesale mobile phones or unlocked phones you are thinking of stocking is also a worthwhile exercise. By checking to see if the features are in demand or that style of phone will sell well can potentially save you thousands in unsold stock or free up a product line for a more profitable item if you are dropshipping. It will also help you determine what price you should be paying, what price you can sell it for and the profit margins you can expect.

Once you have done your online research and found the phone looks OK on paper then its time to order a sample. This is much easier if you do it through a mobile shop in China which has no minimum order quantity, like Chinavasion but you may be required to order about three or four to test.

When testing a wholesale mobile phone it’s important to be as thorough as you can possibly be. Here are some things you might want to check:

The manual is in English and makes sense

The handpiece doesn’t click or creak when it is handled and doesn’t feel cheap

There aren’t any bubbles in the screen, its set in the right pace and there aren’t any black lines when you switch it on.

The battery won’t take a full charge, it doesn’t last as long as the supplier suggests or smells funny when it is being charged.

A component is missing, or doesn’t work as promised.

The phone’s speaker or microphone quality is poor or the buttons are hard to operate.

If the unlocked cellphone passes mustard then the next step is to put it on your stock lists.

By checking out the companies you’re thinking of buying from and researching the products you want to put online you’re sure to find unlocked cellular phones that won’t only sell well they’ll keep customers happy and profit margins strong at the same time.

If you are planning a vacation or business trip, whether a quick trip across to your neighboring state or even an extended stay in another country there are a few tips you can follow to not only ensure you have continuous cell phone coverage but to help you manage your roaming bills. Many carriers charge high premiums for calls made while you are out of your metro area, so it is important that you check rates and coverage range with your carrier.

Roaming

Instead of being surprised by high bills when you return from a trip be sure that you are aware, upfront, of the rates your carrier will charge when you “roam” out of your billing area.

International Travel

Your carrier will, most likely, offer an international roaming plan that will allow you to use your cell phone in any country you happen to travel to. Rates for international roaming, however, can run into extremely unreasonable numbers. When traveling internationally consider purchasing a prepaid, or pay as you go, phone or SIM card when you arrive at your final destination. Prepaid local plans will not only save you a lot of money using local rates, but you can also forward your regular “home” cell phone number to your temporary international number; allowing friends and family the ability to easily keep in touch with you.

Unlocked Cell Phones

It is possible to use your own mobile handset with a while traveling internationally; this will save you from needing to buy a phone with your prepaid plan. If your phone is one you purchased directly from your carrier then it is most likely “locked” to your network. It will not be possible, then, for you to use a SIM card from another carrier. A quick phone call to your provider, explaining to them that you are going to take an international trip, can help resolve this; many carriers will provide to you the “unlock” code so that you can then use your phone on any network. Check with your carrier, also, to make sure that your particular phone will be compatible on the international networks.

Chargers

If you are taking your cell phone with you on a trip, whether for business or pleasure, don’t forget to take your charger with you. Packing your wall charger in a bag to take with you will not only help ensure you have continuous use of your phone, but save you from the extra expensive of having to buy a new one while traveling. If you will either be traveling by car or renting a car at your destination consider taking along your car charger. Traveling to Europe you will need to purchase either an adapter for your US wall charger or purchase a European charger for your phone when you arrive at your destination. Consider, also, taking along a spare battery for your cell phone; in case you find yourself in a location where you are unable to charge your phone for an extended period of time.

Local Time

Most carriers in North America will automatically update the time on your phone when you arrive at your destination. If you are traveling out of the country your phone will “piggy back” on a local network and most likely update its date and time. However, it is a good idea to check that the date and time on your phone are correct when you arrive.

Owning a cell phone gives you a level of freedom but it also confines you in some ways. For example, the cell phones that are found throughout the world are locked in order to keep you at one particular provider. It doesn’t matter if they are GSM or CDMA, they are locked by default by the providers to keep you locked into their service. For this reason, many people need to purchase cell phones that are unlocked in order to make it easy to move from service to service and even to travel in other countries.

If you’re looking for where to buy cheap unlocked cell phones, the Internet is really the easiest place to do so. You may be able to find cell phones that are unlocked in your local area but it is often difficult to locate somebody that does this. On the Internet, however, you can find these unlocked cell phones rather easily. You can purchase them at one of the online stores that deals with new and used cell phones or you may want to try getting one on an online auction site, such as eBay.

If you’re buying from an individual, make sure that the cell phone is actually unlocked. You would be surprised at the number of people who use this in their description whenever they really do not understand what it means. Just make sure you ask ahead of time so that you don’t end up with something you do not actually need.

If you want to travel internationally then you will need an sim free cell phone. And, you will need to know what services are available to you and how your phone will work internationally versus in the United States. Keep in mind, however, that your regular US cell phone will not work internationally unless you purchased one of the unlocked cell phones available on the market.

There are different types of services available to contract free phones depending where you are in the world. Generally, the US uses a cell phone services called DMA, TDMA, iDEN, or AMPS. And, like many things, the majority of other countries use a different type of service. There are hundreds of other countries that use GSM cellular service. So, if you plan on traveling internationally and want to take your cell phone with you then you need to buy a GSM cell phone. US phones that are not GSM phones won’t work with this system so there is no need trying to figure out how to make them. It is much easier to simply buy a GSM cell phone.

Remember, too, that all GSM phones are not the same either. In fact, there are up to four different frequencies that GSM phones use currently. The vast majority of countries using the GSM service use frequency bands of 900 MHz and 1800 MHz In the US the frequencies are a combo of the frequency bands 850 MHz and 1900 MHz.

This might not make much sense to you, but it really is important. This can easily be explained using an example of an FM radio. If your favorite radio stations are 900 MHz and 1800 MHz but your radio is preset to two stations, either 850 MHz or 1900 MHz, then you are out of luck. This makes it easier to understand about the frequencies and why they matter.

It would make sense if all cell phones supported all frequency bands. But, this is not the case and the ones that do are quite expensive. The majority do support two or three bands. So, this leaves you wondering what frequency bands you need to make sure your cell phone has. It is a good idea to have a cell phone that supports 900 MHz and 1800 MHz if you are traveling internationally. If you plan on using the cell phone in the United States as well then it must support 850 MHz and 1900 MHz as well. The easiest thing to do is simply buy a cell phone for international use and one for home use and take the easy way out!
